and then there were ten

15 Apr

i went into my egg retrieval this morning with reasonable expectations. 7 follicles were observed on my last ultrasound. well there were more but they were smaller. so of course the expectation was 7 or fewer. the RE talked to m and i a bit about how quality was more important than quantity and that we shouldn’t worry if there were only a few. the procedure itself was fine as far as i know. quickly after having my iv put in i was out. and when i woke up m told me there were actually TEN retrieved. 10. wohoo! of course this isn’t a measure of quality but the more there are the greater the chances. i can only imagine that the strong swimmers were icsi’d into the follicles and they are happily dividing as i type. status report on friday. an actual digestible amount of waiting time.

so for now i am resting up. some non-stop nausea. a bit of pain. but in the end i am excited. every step feels like a step forward.
